- It's funny trying to fill out 'about me' pages because so much of who I am now, almost has nothing to do with who I ever 'was,' but how else do you fill out an honest 'about me' page without touching on the past?
Perhaps I never really was anyone in particular until I decided to become, and BE the person that I AM today.
...I know....that last statement may take a second to absorb. I'm not even sure that i completely comprehend it, but I'll try and explain it.
You see, I believe that we are all born with potential that we are not truly aware of until we DECIDE to exploit that potential. (NOTE: I have a theory about 'Decisions' - I'll soon be writing a Blog on Decision making).
Perhaps I can explain it like this.
When asked how he was able to carve the sculpture of 'David' out of a giant slab of rock, Michelangelo replied that the image of David was always in the slab, and that all he had to do was to simply chip away the unnecessary parts.
Of course, I am paraphrasing here but the message is spot on!
You see, who I was and where I come from are simply the stories of the slabs of rock that needed to be removed before I could become the person I am today. I am not saying that I am a masterpiece, and of course there is still plenty of work to be done, but I hope you understand the analogy.
I come from a very poor and limited background. As the middle of 7 children, I was a welfare child for a while, and I remember bare Christmas mornings and my parents struggled to make ends meet.
A lot of negative influence followed me into adulthood and had a strangling effect on me until I DECIDED to DO THINGS A CERTAIN WAY, and to fight for Prosperity, instead of poverty.
Today I am much closer to the ideal person that I strive to be. I decided to move toward where I am 'Celebrated' instead of where I am just 'Tolerated,' and the results have been simply staggering. In my heart I had always been an entrepreneur, and at the same time I have always enjoyed helping others.
In this industry I am blessed to be associated with great mentors who in turn, have helped me to be successful, and have provided me with the tools and training necessary for me to help others. I am on the path to financial security and independence, and I couldn't be more grateful.
